Peter Borg-Neal is is well-known in Tring as the founder of The Akeman, and a Director of Rugby at Tring Rugby Football Club. Perhaps less well known is his role as a Trustee of the National Autistic Society and Chair of its Social Support Committee. David Sidwell is one of the founders of the Ilex Trust. He now administers the Trust’s affairs and is responsible for the MAX music initiative. David, who now works as a management consultant, has a 30 year career in sales and general management in the software business. Simon Shearman is well known in Tring sporting circles: Vice Chairman of the Cricket Club, a Vice President of the Rugby Club, and actively involved with the Tornadoes and the Swimming Club. Simon is a Director of Fly2Fish, a specialist fisherman’s tour operator with close ties with British Columbia & North America. Simon lives in Tring with his four children, two ferrets and 40 fishing rods (or would have if Nigel would give him some back, anyway). Mike James is a local councillor and the current Mayor of Tring. He instigated the Tring Sports Forum in 2005 during his first term as Mayor. A well-known figure in the local hostelries, he has been a member of Tring Squash Club since 1978 and is also a member of the town’s Cricket and Bowls clubs. Andy Criddle is involved in many sports in the town. He is a junior coach at the Rugby Club, and is closely involved with Junior Cricket at the Cricket Club. He is also an ex-Chairman of Tring Tennis Club. In his spare time he runs a successful business consultancy and has three children, all enjoying sport in the town. Chris Wallis was a founder member of Tring Rugby Club in 1964, and is part of a remarkable four generations of rugby playing family in the town. His father was a councillor and Chairman, then President of the Club; his son is an Ilex rugby coach, and current Club Vice-Captain, and his grandson plays in the Under 16’s.
